After thinking through our new list of criteria, we narrowed our search to the Downtown and Midtown areas. We looked at The Montgomery, The Legacy at Arts Quarter, The Regency Towers, The Sieber and Park Harvey. Click on “more” to see my description of all of the above! We selected The Legacy at Arts Quarter. We love the location. It’s right by the Art Museum and Civic Center and only a few blocks from most of the restaurants we love in MidTown. It has space for a full size washer and dryer, two nice size bedrooms, a beautiful kitchen with granite tops and attached parking garage with two spaces included. We were able to get a ground floor apartment with a little patio!! Andy planted our tomatoes, basil and other herbs in containers so they can go with us! We move in the last week of June! Getting really excited! Click here to read about all the apartments we viewed!
The Montgomery (sorry no website) is beautiful. It was the original Montgomery Wards in downtown OKC. A really nice young man showed me 4 different units. They have a total of 56 units with eleven different floor plans. The 2 bedroom units range in price from $1500 to $1700 per month and in size from 1200 – 1400 sq. feet. They are very open with high ceilings, granite counter tops and most had wood floors. They have parking connected by breezeway to the building for an extra $58 per month. Washer and Dryers hook ups are provided in the units and they had a very nice roof top common area that can be used by the tenants. They have 24 hour concierge and he told me they would even walk my dog! (if I had one). Very good customer service! La Trattoria is in the ground floor of this building and offers delivery to residents! That could be really dangerous for me! I LOVE that restaurant! They also have a 24 hour fitness center available.
The Park Harvey, is a high rise on the corner of Park and Harvey (clever!) This building is also very historic and beautiful. The apartments are spacious and they offer both one and two bedroom. The weird thing was the second bedroom was designed to not have a door! It was separated from the main living area with a wall, but no way to close it off for privacy. It would work great if you were using it as an office, but for a child, or guests, it might be a little awkward. The two bedrooms were around $1300 and your parking is 1 ½ blocks away and cost an additional $100 per month. They have a beautiful fitness center in the basement. I believe it was an additional $50 per month. They also have a really cool club room with pool table and big-screen TV that you can use at no additional charge. No washer and dryer in your unit, but laundry available on site and a Sushi bar on the ground floor. They also have 24 hour courtesy desk and pets are allowed!
The Regency Towers was the least expensive of the units we previewed. They are older and in need of updating. They do not even compare to the Montgomery or Park Harvey. Lower ceilings, choppy, old appliances, old carpet, etc. They are remodeling the common areas like hallways, club room etc. They had a really nice pool, which the Park Harvey and Montgomery do not offer. Prices ranged from $1000 – $1200 for a two bedroom. The view was very nice and they have an attached garage and fitness center. Grocery and deli on the ground floor.
The Legacy at Arts Quarter are located at 3rd and Walker. Great location! Close to the heart of OKC and within a few blocks of Midtown! These apartments are several 4 story small complexes surrounding a beautiful courtyard and pool. Each unit has full size washer and dryer, granite tops, nice size kitchen, balcony or patio and high ceilings. Pets are welcome. In fact, I think everything place we looked at welcomed pets! The parking garage is built within the units so you have full covered access to your car on the same level as your apartment. They have 2 or 3 restaurants located on the ground floor of a few of the units. They also have a fitness center. Oh, and did I mention the beautiful pool with misters! Price for two bedroom is around $1500 per month. A little pricey, but washer and dryer is included, parking is included and did I mention the beautiful pool??
We tried to look at The 5th Ave. Lofts but they only want to meet with you on Monday-Friday from 9-5PM. We were only available to look on the weekend and tried to make an appointment after business hours, but they weren’t interested.
The Sieber at 13th and Hudson, in the heart of Midtown has been renovated into 38 beautiful apartments. They have 1 and 2 bedroom and beautiful views. They have done a beautiful job of restoring this old building and the lobby is really exquisite. We LOVED the location and the building, but the price was too steep for us. A 2 Bedroom was around $1700 per month. They do have very small washer and dryers in the units and a laundry facility for the big loads.
There are some rental units in Bricktown and Deep Deuce, but we decided we wanted to stay in the heart of Downtown and wanted to be within walking distance to Midtown! Some of our favorite haunts are in Midtown and Bricktown is a little too “young and energetic” for our tastes!
